African Princess - Ceramic Raku Sculpture by Nina Hope Pfanstiehl, in the recently published in "500 RAKU" 2011. Art works selected by juror Jim Romberg from more than 2100 national submissions of ceramics fired in the ancient Japanese tradition.
Pfanstiehl graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University
magna cum laude with a double major in Art and English.
She began studying raku technique at the Newport Art Museum
& continued with South County Art Association & Mudstone Studios,
with workshops with nationally known ceramicists.
Among her recent local awards was an Honorable Mention for "Girl Friend"
in the DeBlois Gallery's Show "Figure This," Newport, RI.
