From their webpage:  "The Great Art Heist"  Member donated artwork fund-raiser. Purchase your ticket ($50) at the gallery, Wednesday - Sunday, September 1 - September 24. Tickets sold on the night of the  Art Heist night, September 24, from 7 - 7:30 pm if there are still tickets available. Another Honorable Mention

"Urban Memories II"  This Pit Fired Ceramic Sculpture won an Honorable Mention at the Portsmouth Artist's Guild current "Interiors & Exteriors" juried show (Portsmouth, RI), which runs through Sept. 18, 2011.  The unusual coloring comes from dried seaweed, which is used in the pit firing process.  Another pit fired ceramic sculpture titled "Urbanscape" was also chosen for inclusion in this show.  Elizabeth "Lisa" Goddard, a professional artist--painter and printmaker--also a teacher of visual arts & currently the Executive Director of the Newport Art Museum, was the juror. 

Won Honorable Mention

"Urban Memories I & II"  - As a pair, these Pit Fired Ceramic Sculptures won an Honorable Mention Award at Spring Bull Gallery's (Newport, RI) 1st Open Juried Show in June, 2011.  Richard Harrington was the juror.  The unusual colorings (beige, orange & brown colors) come from dried seaweed used in the pit firing process.  The pit firing was done at SCAA this past spring & the previous fall.  Another ceramic sculpture, "The Emperess" (see bio photo) was also selected for inclusion in the show.

    Pfanstiehl graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University

magna cum laude with a double major in Art and English.

    She began studying raku technique at the Newport Art Museum 

& continued with South County Art Association & Mudstone Studios,

with workshops with nationally known ceramicists. 

    Among her recent local awards was an Honorable Mention for "Girl Friend"  

in the DeBlois Gallery's Show "Figure This," Newport, RI.
